Geological Museum: a journey into the depths of subsurface resources

The visit and the lecture at the Geological Museum of Uzbekistan presented new discoveries of secrets of the subsoil of the native land to students of the Branch of the Russian State University of Oil and Gas (NRU) named after I.M.Gubkin in Tashkent.

Museum Director, I.B. Turamuratov familiarized the student with unique information related to the future profession.

A group of students from the “Operation and Maintenance of Transport and Storage Facilities for Oil and Refined Products” students from all regions of the republic - Sobirjon Mazhidov, Akmal Khamidov, Mamanbiy Pirnazarov, Saidbek Bohodirov, Shokhrukh Kulmanov, Otabek Abdurafikov, Shokhrukh Abduvaitov, Samandar Isokov, Igor Yun, Hasan Pulatov , Alexander Gu – expressed their enthusiasm and interest in mastering the profession of an oilman and outside of classrooms. A visit to the Geological Museum, enriched their knowledge and ideas about geology, became a meaningful excursion into the history of Russian science.

As the lecturer noted, the history of the creation of the museum dates back to 1926, and today the modern exposition is not only a collection of a small museum, but extensive collection materials collected by geological organizations, enterprises, institutions, well-known geological researchers of the bowels of the republic and the region for more than The 85-year-old activity of the geological service of Uzbekistan. The Geological Museum preserves more than 2000 of the rarest, surprisingly beautiful and valuable exhibits.

Collections of minerals collected as a result of excavation of rocks contain all the elements of the periodic table: unpretentious in appearance, they are of great value, are used in a number of areas of industry, including metallurgy, chemical industry, medicine, as well as optics and jewelry.

Students have been presented samples of unique minerals and rocks not only in Uzbekistan, but also deposits throughout Central Asia, which were also brought from currently developed deposits.

In total, the Geological Museum has 12 sections: mineralogy, the history of geology of Uzbekistan, paleontology, ancient mining, geological studies of the Kitab Nature Reserve and others.

In these exhibition halls, students got acquainted with the collections of the unique geological heritage of Uzbekistan, reflecting the identity of the region, often representing world significance and being a national treasure in the scientific, educational, educational, cultural, economic and political aspects.

According to the academic supervisor of the group, a senior lecturer at the Department of General Professional Disciplines, Sh. Makhmudova, a visit to the Geological Museum not only gave an indelible impression, but filled with pride the uniqueness of the wealth of the bowels and nature of the native land, the dedicated work of ancient pioneers, as well as modern discoverers of subsurface reserves.
